Autumn Gala Weekend, Severn Valley Railway

Saturday 26th September 2009

The annual Autumn Steam Gala ran for three days with trains running through the nights of the Friday and Saturday.
The visiting locos were No. 4936 'Kinlet Hall' from the Birmingham Railway Museum at Tyseley, GNR N2 0-6-2T No. 1744
from the Great Central Railway, GWR 0-6-2T No. 5643, owned by the Furness Railway Trust and currently operating on
the Llangollen Railway, and LMS Ivatt Class 2 2-6-2T from the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. With the resident
Ivatt Class 2 2-6-0 No. 46443 and the recently restored Ivatt Class 4 2-6-0 No. 43106, double heading of trains over
the whole length of the line was possible using various combinations of the three Ivatt locos.
Other resident locos operating were the ex-Port Talbot Railway 0-6-0ST No.813, GWR 0-6-0PT No. 5764,
GWR 2-6-2T Nos. 4566 and 5164 , the two GWR 'Manors' Nos 7802 and 7812 and the LMS Stanier mogul No. 42968.
The day started cloudy but eventually the sun broke through and shone from 2 pm for the rest of the day.

slowing for the speed restriction at Sterns,

with the 4.38 pm local train from
Bridgnorth to Hampton Loade. 

GNR Class N2  0-6-2T No. 1744  near Hay Bridge, 
accelerating from the speed restriction at Sterns, 
with the 4.20 pm train from Kidderminster.

over the Bewdley by-pass, south of the station,
with the 5.00 pm train from Bridgnorth.

departing from Bewdley with the 6.05 pm train
from Kidderminster,consisting of 7 teak coaches.
