Autumn Gala Weekend, Severn Valley Railway

Sunday 21st September 2008

The annual Autumn Gala took place using the full line length from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth.
The line had been reopened at Easter 2008, having been restored to full operation after the
damage by flooding in June and July 2007.  The visiting locos were 'City of Truro' from the National
collection, 'Dukedog' No.9017 'Earl of Berkeley' from the Bluebell Railway, two 2-6-2Ts Nos. 5526
and 5542 and an autcoach.  No. 6024 'King Edward I'  had been expected as another guest but had
suffered a hot axlebox on a main line special and was marooned at the West Somerset Railway.
The Dukedog with the two resident Manors and the Ivatt mogul, numbered as 46446, were the reason
for the weekend's Cambrian theme. In contrast to the visit in 2007, the sun shone for most of the day.
