Autumn Gala Weekend, Severn Valley Railway

Sunday 23rd September 2007

The annual Autumn Gala took place using a restricted line length from Kidderminster to Bewdley.
The line had been severely damaged by flooding in June and July, in spite of that the Railway ran an
intensive service between the two stations at about 25 minute intervals over three days.  Vintage Trains,
at the Birmingham Railway Museum, ran special trains from Bewdley to Snow Hill direct, however in the
opposite direction passengers had to detrain at Kidderminster NR Station as it was not permitted to
shunt their train with them in it into the SVR station.  The visiting locos were turned at Kidderminster.
Sunday was a very dull day, but the final departure of the two 'Halls' at 6.50 was impressive in poor light.
It is believed to be the first time that 'Kinlet Hall and 'Pitchford Hall' ran double-headed on the main line.
