The first train was 21C123 'O.V.S. Bulleid'
with the ECS of the 'Golden Arrow Limited'
approaching Horsted Keynes.

21C123 'O.V.S. Bulleid' has shut off steam
as it approaches Horsted Keynes.
 

No 34028 'Eddystone' departing from Horsted Keynes
with the 10.42 ECS for Sheffield Park
consisting of the third set of coaches.

No 1638 climbing the last few yards to Horsted Keynes
with the 10.55 from Sheffield Park.
   

No 34028 'Eddystone' eases off approaching
the Horstead Keynes inner home signal
with the 11.31 from Sheffield Park.

No. 80151 departing from Horsted Keynes with the
11.54 train to Sheffield park (11.30 from Kingscote)
just before shutting off steam to coast downhill.
Nearly all the gang clearing the lineside had left.

No. 1638 arriving at Horsted Keynes with the 12.06
 from Kingscote, just before 21C123 departed.
Had I taken a picture from Leamland Bridge, the
Bulleid would have been in shadow.  I stayed there...

...hoping that the driver of 21C123 would use the
 cylinder drain cocks briefly when starting with the
 12.29 'Golden Arrow Limited' from Horsted Keynes.
There's a loco in there somewhere!

Taken from the roadside near Sloop Lane bridge,
No. 80151 is at the summit of Freshfield bank
with the 12.40 from Sheffield Park.

No 1638 climbing Freshfield bank
with the 1.20 pm from Sheffield Park
  

21C123 descending Freshfield bank
with the 1.42 from Horsted Keynes
(1.17pm from Kingscote).

No 34028 'Eddystone' climbing Freshfield bank
with the 1.55 from Sheffield Park.  Unfortunately
the easterly wind blows the soft exhaust down.

80151 coasting at the top of Freshfield bank
at Town Place, with the 2.17 from Horsted Keynes
(1.57 pm from Kingscote).

No 21C123 climbing Freshfield bank
with the 'Golden Arrow Limited'
2.30 pm from Sheffield Park. 

No 80151 climbing Freshfield bank with the
3.05 pm from Sheffield Park taken from just near the
boundary between East and West Sussex.

The sun went down just after the last picture,
so returning higher up the incline, No. 1638 with
the 3.40 pm from Sheffield Park climbs the 1 in 75.
