This part of the website is dedicated to displaying photographs of steam trains from 1957 to the present day.
From August 2007 onwards the photographs were taken using a Pentax K10D digital SLR camera; before then
the pictures are from scanned 35mm colour slides or black and white negatives, taken with Pentax cameras
until May 2005, then a Canon EOS 30 was used until 2007. Following acquisition of a superior slide-scanner,
the process of re-scanning the slides has commenced. This will take some time before all slide pictures are
improved. The symbol in the caption indicates a
re-scanned photo.
My son's photographs are presently on a fotopic site, click the camera symbol.

Photos are generally arranged by the pre-nationalisation railway company which built or inherited the loco
portrayed, plus BR Standard locos. The exception to this is the small group of black-and-white photos taken
in the late '50s.
When there are photos of double-headed trains or of two or more locos, where the locos are
from different companies, the photo is in the gallery corresponding to the leading or nearest loco.
I have also produced galleries of specific events, some of which have appeared on railway websites.

The site is recommended to be viewed at 'Full Screen Size' and is scaled for screens of 1024 × 768 pixels resolution.
Most photos are also viewable at 800 × 600 pixels resolution, at a similar size on the screen as they would be for a
screen with higher resolution. The Bluebell Railway gallery photos are usually at 1024 × 768 pixels resolution
only.
Users of Mozilla Firefox or Netscape are advised to set the Taskbar to 'Auto hide' to see the enlarged
