Content
Penguin Web Solutions will take the text and graphics images
(and sound files if applicable) from the client and build them into a website.
It is not our policy to write copy for a website, this should be what the client wants to say
and how he or she wishes to express themselves and put their message over.
However we would advise clients who are unsure about what they should
include in a site, so that they can then provide the appropriate content.
When transferring the text into the site we would advise the client if it is necessary to
improve the text to eliminate ambiguity etc. and correct spelling or grammar if necessary.
Text
We prefer to accept text in electronic format in word processor documents,
Microsoft Word or Corel WordPerfect, Rich Text files or standard text files.
Documents can also be accepted in Adobe Reader (pdf) format, provided the text is printed and clearly legible,
(not handwritten or in very ornamental fonts).
Printed or typed documents can also be scanned and converted into text using OCR software,
but a charge, determined by the extra time involved would be levied.
Only as a last resort would handwritten copy be accepted as conversion of this to electronic format
takes time and of necessity costs more.
Copyright on text originated by the client would be indicated in the website.
Any text quoted from other sources would need to be used with the author's or publisher's permission and copyright
assigned to the source.
Graphics
Graphics images can be accepted as computer standard files, JPEG, GIF, PNG or bitmap,
which in the process of being transferred into web images, may have to be reduced in resolution,
to reduce the time of downloading by the viewer.
Hardcopy images can be scanned from photographs and drawings, and we can also accept 35mm slides,
or 35mm negative film in colour or black-and-white. A charge is levied for the processing of such images into electronic format.
The same rules of copyright will apply to graphics images as for text.
We can add copyright information to images at an additional charge.
We have the capability of digital photography. Additional
charges are levied for this service. Copyright of such
images is negotiable between the client and photographer.
Navigation
Navigation buttons can be graphics 'buttons', single state or rollover buttons which change appearance as the mouse cursor 'rolls over' them, or hyperlinks, basic underlined type or modified by applying CSS as used in this site.
Clients should be aware that if the site is to be capable of translation on-line graphics buttons containing text do not get translated but CSS hyperlinks do.
Translation
There are a number of online translation programs on the internet.
One translates single web pages, others can handle several web pages. If the client wishes to have their site
accessible to foreign visitors hyperlinks to translation services can be added at extra cost.
Hyperlinks
Hyperlinks to other websites can be added.
If there are just a few, these can be added close to the main navigation,
but if there is a significant number an additional links page would be used.
Charges apply depending on quantity and implementation.
Video and Sound
Any video clips and sound files to be used in a website must be supplied in electronic format.
